I am a real estate licensee in another state and desire to obtain a real estate license in Florida. Please tell me the States with which Florida has negotiated a Mutual Recognition Agreement?
The Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) has entered into mutual recognition agreements with eleven (11) states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Qualified residents from these states, if not a resident of Florida, can obtain a Florida real estate license by passing a forty (40) question state licensing examination. This examination is designed to evaluate the applicant's knowledge of Florida real estate license law, statues and administrative rules. The content of this state examination is the same for sales associates and brokers.
Although no coursework requirement exists under mutual recognition, an applicant must sit for a Florida Real Estate Law Examination - forty (40) question examination. MDMPA's Mutual Recognition Course is highly recommended for state examination preparation.
Note: These mutual recognition agreements extend similar licensing opportunities to Florida licensees who might be interested in becoming licensed in one of these mutually recognized states. To obtain examination and fee information, a Florida real estate licensee should contact the appropriate real estate commission within such a state.
Please note: The Florida Real Estate Commission requires nonresident licensees who qualify for licensure in Florida through mutual recognition to complete the same post-license and continuing education requirements as Florida residents.
